Daphne Johnston, is an esteemed Elder and Knowledge-Keeper for the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation. Educated at Ryerson University and Georgian College, Daphne has worked in many capacities as an advocate and project volunteer in Canada, France, and the West Indies. She has worked as a project coordinator and manager with organizations including the Ontario Federation of Friendship Centres and the Anishnawbe Health Centre, and has led the public relations departments at the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto and the Frontiers Foundation. She has coordinated the Indian Hall of Fame at the CNE with artists Carl Ray, Tony Hunt, Saul Williams and Wilmer Nadjiwon; coproduced a film on the Friendship Centre movement for CBC; produced three health films show on APTN; developed three language videos with Basil Johnston; and developed a photographic exhibition for the ROM titled “A Continuing Culture.”
